■'♦ ' . AXIS DRIVE INTO EGYPT LONDON, June 25. Mr Richard Dimbleby, 8.8.C----observer, reports that the three Axis columns which crossed into Egypt last night have joined up about half-way between Sidi Barrani and Mersa Matruh, some 80 miles inside Egypt. The enemy collected his strength in the Gambut area and moved south in impressive strength, including all the working tanks of the 15th and 21st panzer divisions, the Italian Ariete Division, lorry-borne troops, and the 90th Light Division. The British infantry fell back a very considerable distance to a point where the strongest resistance could be made. EFFORT TO RELIEVE SEBASTOPOL NEW YORK. June 25. A message to the “New York • Times" from Berne says that General Kozlov, in charge of operations to relieve Sebastopol, has launched a surprise operation on the southern coast of the Crimea, with landings by Russian marines. According to information here, details are still , scanty; but the operation appears to'have been planned and executed on a scale comparable with that at Theodosia in December, which was accompanied by the Russian recapture i f the Kenjh Peninsula.
