1914-18 PATRIOTIC FUND

The report on last year’s working presented to the annual meeting of the Canterbury Patriotic Fund yesterday stated that since the inception, of the fund in September, 1914, a total sum of £414,389 4s 3d had been received from all sources, of which £391,96610s 2d had been expended, leaving a balance of £22,422 14s Id. Included tn the amount to the credit of the fund is £4490 10s Bd, the cost of the Rannerdale Home, less depreciation, leaving £17,090 2s Id available for distribution.

The report showed that receipts last year amounted to £5262 and payments to £6258, an excess of expenditure of £986, The principal items of expenditure were £2232 for grants to soldiers and their dependants and £3183 for the maintenance of Rahnerdale Home, llie average monthly number of patients in the home varied during the year between 17.19 and 12.85.
