Power Breaks Investigated

The cause of breaks in the electrical power service in the Waimairi County Council’s reticulation area is being investigated, according to a statement made last evening by the district electrical engineer to the Public Works Department (Mr R. G. Mac Gibbon). A break occurred on Tuesday about 5.30 p.m. and the Fendalton area was without power for more than an hour. The rest of the council’s district, up to the Waimakariri river, was also affected, and the service to the freezing works was interrupted. There was another but minor break about the same time yesterday. Mr MacGibbon said the trouble was probably caused by an unbalanced load, which broke the circuits of the two 11,000volt feeders to the Waimairi county.
