The House ofßepreaentatives Appropriations Committee approved Mr Roosevelt’s request for 280,000,000 dollars for a drastically curtailed World Progress Administration programme from July 1. The programme involves maintaining in employment Rn'average of 400,000 relief workers next year, dismissing 350,000. • / i The W.P.A. programme is now designed: (1) to train as/many men as possible and flnd Jobs for them as scion as possible; (2) to aid the war effort through projects of military value; (2) to relieve unemployed area* where war production has not , yet provided jobs. ,
