HOUSING DIFFICULTY

SUPREME COURT MENTION ■ "It is very difficult—there is no question about that,” replied Mr A. W. Drown in the Supreme Court yesterday, when Mr Justice Northcroft asked him if he could say whether the hous ing situation in Christchurch was difficult or easy. The question was raised when his Honour was fixing the time in which an order for possession of a dwelling house should take effect. An order for possession was sought by tine State Advances Corporation (Mr Brown) against Frank Sanders, who did not appear. When the period in which the order was to become effective was raised, Mr Brown said Sanders had been contumacious. He had been given an opportunity to sell and had made promises from time to time. Defendant was ordered to pay costs. The order was made effective one-month after-the-date- of -service.
