ASHBURTON There was a small attendance and yarding at the Ashburton stock market yesterday, when prices were on a par with those ruling at the sale at the Tinwald yards last week Fat ewes brought prices ranging from 11s 4d to 18s 4d. while fat wethers made from 23s Id to 27s Id. Fat 'ambs from 21s 4d to 27s lOd. The top price of the sale,'27s lOd, was obtained by W J. Holland (Hinds) for four fat Jambs, while three wethers sold on account of D. Croft (Seafield) brought 27s Id and a pen of seven ewes offered for C. Whiting (Maronan) sold for 18s 4d. A fat cow sold for £8 15s and a steer for £6 15s. ' TEMUKA (P.S.S.I TIMARU, May 19 Entries at the Temuka sale were not so large as at the previous sale. In the fat cattle section about 100 head were forward, and the quality was indifferent. Values showed an improvement of 20s a head on the previous sale. The yarding of 800 fat lambs and two races of fat sheep sold under spirited competition, the latter selling at fully Is a head better than at the Pleasant Point sale. Fat steers made £lO to £l2 7s 6d, best cows £8 to £9 17s 6d, light to medium £5 7s 6d to £7 17s 6d, best heifers £lO to £l2 2s 6d. -light to medium £6 to £8 17s 6d. LORNEVILLE (P.A.) , INVERCARGILL. May 19. A medium yarding of fat sheep was forward at the Lorneville sale to-day In the early stages of the sale competition for ewes was quite keen values showing a slight improvement, but as the sale progressed there was a general easing tendency, and over the '■later stages of the sale values were fully to Is lower for butchers’ ewes compared with th previous week. Prime quality heavyweight wethers made up to 33s 3d, medium quality 27s to 28s 6d, and lightweights from 24s 6d to 265. Extra good ewes brought fo 235, good quality 18s to 20s. and medium quality and freezins weights 14s to 17s. There was a med-ium-sized entry of fkt lambs, for which export buyers competed keenly, the values realised being fully up to schedule rates, and in many cases about Is in excess. The bulk of the yarding ranged from 24s to 27s fid.
