ACCIDENTS

TERRITORIAL KILLED THROWN FROM MOTOR-CYCLE Driver Albert William Blackwood, aged 19, a territorial stationed at a military camp in Canterbury, met with a fatal accident when riding a motorcycle on the main Akaroa road about 9.30 o’clock yesterday morning. Driver Blackwood was on convoy duty at the time and was thrown from his motorcycle at a sharp bend, about one mile and a-half on the Christchurch side of Akaroa. His machine apparently became out of control in loose shingld, and he was thrown over a bank into a paddock. He died within a few minutes of the accident. His home address was 174 Main South road, Caversham, Dunedin. An inquest was opened yesterday afternoon before the Coroner (Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.), and was adjourned ajter evidence of identification had been given. Another member of the convoy met with an accident at the same point, but his injuries were not serious. He was admitted to a military hospital. CYCLIST FATALLY INJURED DEATH AFTER COLLISION WITH TRAM Mr Charles Morris, aged 69, a married man, of 430 Selwyn street, Adding, ton, >vas fatally injured when riding a bicycle he collided with a tram yesterday afternoon. The accident occurred in Oxford terrace. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital with a fractured skull, and died last evening. FALL FROM CYCLE Slight concussion and abrasions to the head were received by Mr Morris Sears, aged 39, of 30 Warwick street, Richmond, when he fel] from his bicycle at the, corner of Simeon and Howard streets, Spreydon, yesterday. The accident occurred when his coat caught in the front wheel of the cycle. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, and his condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
