ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS

* SEVENTY-NINTH. ANNUAL MEETING The Canterbury United District Ancient Order of Foresters held its seventyninth annual meeting last Saturday. Brother F. J. Weakley, D.C.R., presided over a full attendance of* delegates, and extended a welcome to Brother Macfie. the district secretary of the Otago district. The executive report showed the district and courts to be in a good position financially. Because of the war, attendance at the courts meetings had fallen off, but, taking all things into consideration, the order was progressing well. The conference considered many questions of importance to the order, including soldier members, new entrants, and the need for members not in any of the services to take an active interest in the order. The election of officers resulted as follows;—D.C.R., Bro. W. J. Turner; D.S.C.R., Bro. C. J. Osborne; D.8., Bro. J. E. Meaclem; 1.P.D.C.R., Bro. F. J. Weakley: D.T., Bro. J. Wathew; D.W., Bro. D. C. McArthur; D.R.S., Bro. F. H. Swaneyt auditor, Bro. : W. Hart, P C.R The officers were installed by Bro. D. Donald, assisted by Bro. G. H. D. Hefford. Bro. F. J. Weakley, the retiring D.C.R., was made a presentation by Bro. Donald, P.D.C.R.. on behalf of the district as an appreciation of his services for more than two years as the head of the district.
