Officers were elected as follows: President, Mrs F. Johnson; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Selby, Weir, and McMeekan; secretary, Mrs H. J. Devonshire; assistant-secretary, Miss M. Kennedy; treasurer, Mrs G. Batstone; auditor, Mr E. Wilde; committee, Mesdames Burleigh, Coffey, D. Smith, Harrison. Moffat, Begg, and Kennedy. STYX-HAREWOOD It was reported at the annual meeting of the Styx-Harewood sub-centre of the Red Cross Society that much patriotic work had been done during the year. Mrs F. McArthur presided over a good attendance. Posies were presented to Mesdames McArthur, D. McConnel, W. Nunweek, and to Mrs Burrell, of the Papanui subcentre of the Red Cross Society. Mrs Haytcn presented Mrs McArthur with a gift from members. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mrs F. McArthur; vice-pre-sidents, Mesdames Merton, sen., W. Henderson, and L. C. Sisson; secretary and treasurer, Mrs D. McConnel; assistant secretary, Mrs R. K. Merton; committee, Mesdames Saunders, Hayton, Jones. Montgomery, Winfield, Cummings; Hardy, Whitcombe, Frazer, and Stoddart. WOMEN’S TEMPERANCE UNION CHRISTCHURCH Miss C. Henderson presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Christchurch branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. A temperance fact was read and a letter of greetings was sent to Mrs Judkins, who recently celebrated her ninetieth birthday. Miss Elsie Andrews, Dominion Organiser, gave a talk.
