MILK DELIVERY

Sir,—ls there anybody or council in this town with control over milk delivery? If so, it is time they put a stop to milkmen carting milk about till 12 o’clock and after. It is simply butter milk before the custpmers get it. When I was in the dairy line I had to have the round finished by 9.30 at the latest. Moreover, we considered ourselves lucky if we could sport the humble horse and cart, and we had to pay from £l2 to £ls for a good dairy eow and get the large price of 2 : lcl a quart in the summer, and 3d in the winter.—Yours, etc,, ONE OF THE SUFFERING PUBLIC. March 12, 19-12. HEALTH AND EDUCATION Sir,—The account of the experiment being made in Palmerston North and Feilding of a new system o> education makes wonderful reading. Are we on the eve of a reconstructive education that makes for the promotion of honesty, courage, truthfulness, and service to produce a good, sound citizen? The sooner the present competitive system is thrown overboard, the better it will be for the nation. But all this is dependent on good health, and this will not be obtained by the present medical system, which largely does not operate until a patient gets sick. We have not far to go to see the excellent results of control and overhaul in the State school dental system—the only one-in existence. Before this was inaugurated, 95 per cent, of the fourth standard- children had decayed teeth. To-day, by a thorough system of overhauling, 95 per cent, have sound tgoth, including stopped teeth. Nothing less for a similar medical system will suffice. Let education and medicine go hand in hand. —Yours, etc.. N. K. COX, M.D. March 12, 1942.
