E.P.S.
vj ;*s Sir-Readers if “The Press” will wfully appreciate the publishing of a full V'lireport of the discussion in the RicearSMton Council about the unsatisfactory Estate of the E.P.S. It is only by such ► as that -of the Mayor (Mr FafKyle, M.P.) and councillors that those D |-jin charge will make some effort to imHprove the organisation. The trouble ap■’bi'jpears to bo too much individual con.',’trol. In New Brighton similar conditions i-|;fto those in Riccarton obtain. The merat'Jbers of the E.P.S. have very little mfi’struction. Many of us have been called '• /t up on to be sworn in three and even ■fe'ifour times. Some have been posted to lilfour different positions, without any ’finition of duties and have no know* iledge what to do and where to report .(.’.•in case of a raid. Cars have been im‘pressed in case of emergency without or making sure they are in >4; (good order. There is urgent need for a j; of the E.P.S. organisation.— ii; 'Yours, etc., -t,;. BE PREPARED. February 27, 1942. [The Mayor and Chief Warden (Mr H. Andrews) stated that some of V, ; 1,-.the suburban local authorities had '•pE.P.S. schemes of their own, and in ,S/‘the earlier stages there had been a lack :p'!of co-ordination among them and the jf-'metropolitan organisation. That had 1 been largely overcome. The whole s'!;,organisation had been an immensely fv (Complicated job, but it was gradually sorted out. The whole thing I’fehad become much more satisfactory in ;X':the last two months.] .'v;! -a ,
