Dalnottar is a recently-named four-year-old filly by Valkynan from Madge’s Tray dam of Craiglea, and is trained by W. Hogan for Mr J. Morrison, of Timaru. Northern King is a four-year-old gelding by Valkynan from Happy Queen, and is owned by Messrs F. and G. Nelson, of Christchurch. Recompense, who had her first race at Omoto last week, is a three-year-old filly by Lord Quex from Repay and is trained for Mr R. of the West Coast, by H. Nurse. The only two-year-old engaged in the race is Warrigal, owned by Messrs D. E. Wanklyn and A. T. Donnelly, and trained by J. Olive. Staying Hack , _ ~ Sally Lunn was taken to Trentham in company with Gladynev by R. Wilson, but will not be raced until next Saturday, when she will contest tne Champion Hack Handicap over a mile and three furlongs. She won her races at Motukarara and Wingatui by staying on, and in her present form her prospects at Trentham look very bright. A fine type of youngster, he very closely resembles Duncannon. Like the other pair, he is under the charge of T. K. George at Trentham.
