CLAIM SETTLED ON WEST COAST

A Compensation Court, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, comprising Mr Justice Northcroft, as president, and Messrs W. T. Slec and Edmund Skiltnn. as assessors, was constituted to hear and dispose of a claim by R. J. Doan, of Karamoa, against the Minister for Public Works for £I7OO in respect of land taken by the department. and other land injuriously affected, in connexion with ihe construction of an aerodrome at Karamca. The case was to come on for hearing at Westport on Tuesday, but was settled on payment bv the department of the full amount of the claim and an allowance towards the costs of the claimant.
