WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION

HEDCLIFFS The annual picnic of the Redcliffis branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held at Abberley Park. St. Albans. An inspection was made of the Womens Land Army gardens. Results of the competitions were as follows: —Treasure hunt, Mrs Carter 1; wool-winding, Mesdames Smith and Lukcy (equal) 1; "timing the minute,’ Miss Killner and Mrs Foster (equal) 1; stepping stones. Mesdames Carter and Brewins (equal) 1; chain stepping, Mrs Turrell 1; leaf identification, Mrs Brewins. amberley The monthly meeting of the Amberley Women's Division of the Farmers Union took the form of a bring and buy sale. Good business was done at tlie stalls. Competitions resulted:— Large bloom, Miss Bristow; small bloom, Mrs Milner; cluster, Miss Feathery; mixed flowers. Mrs Morrish; decorated saucer, Miss Chamberlain; dahlias, Mrs Wilson: asters, Mrs Bennett; sand saucer, Mrs Morrish: gladioli, Mrs Feathery; puirigolds. Miss Feathery; roses, - Mrs Croft. In the children’s section, the prize winners were Janet Streeter, Marie Wornall. Zoe Bennett. June Hayes. Garth Pool. Mrs Roberts, ul Leilhlield. presented the prizes. • ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced between Joyce Priscilla, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Ayers, Methven, and George Jqhn, only son of Mr and Mrs C. Leech, “Chatsworth," East bell, Rangiora. ST. PETER’S PLAY CENTRE Study groups for mothers were held every month, said the report presented at the annual meeting of the committee of St. Peter’s Play Centre, Upper Riecarton. Mrs F. Cook presided. Mrs' Albert Freeman, honorary secre-tary-treasurer, reported that interest in the activities of the play centre had been continued, and thanks were expressed lo many for their help and eo-operation during Uu year.
