Sharplcy. who captained the New Zealanders, put up a good performance to win the final of the HO metres hurdles in Ifi 3-5 seconds, casing up at the finish. In the final of the 800 metres, G. Davies ran a good race to get third in 2min (iser. W. McHugh, who the day before had played in a strenuous Rugby match for the New Zealand Expeditionary Force team ran second in the heats of the 100 metros to Emphy. the Egyptian champion, but in the final McHugh was just beaten into third place in a splendid finish. Tire time was llsec. In the pole vault Opie and Fagg did well. Opie fell out at 10ft, but Fagg and Meroulis. of the Greek Army, cleared 10ft 2in. In the conn* back, Fagg was placed second. In the 400 metres relay race. Sharpley, McHugh. Estall. and Campbell ran third in a very dose finish. Alley, in the 100 metres. Campbell in the 400 metres. Finlayson in the long and high jumps. McKain in the long jump and hop. step and jump, and Olivier in the shot putt all per- 1 formed well, but lack of training told i its tale. |
