TROTTING NOTES

'I imam Nursery Stakes After declaration c. f final forfeits 2d well-bred two-year-olds remain in the Timaru Nursery Stakes, but it is evident that several have been left in because their owners did not realise that the conditions' of the race are under the forfeit, and not the payment, system. R. B Berry will have two racing in his own name in the bay filly. Air Speed, bv Jack Potts-Swift Pointer, and the chestnut gelding, Lucky Gem, by Jack Potts—Sea Pearl, while a third in this trainer’s care is Mr G. Lancaster's filly, Free Again, by Jack Potts—Free Advice. Two from Roydon Lodge have been paid up for in the name of G. B. Noble. They are the bay filly. Abbey Volo, ty Abbedale —Widow Volo, and Nola Scott, by U, Scott—Grattan Lass. The remainder comprise: V. Alborn's Handmaid. by Sandydale—Midshipmaid: D. Death of a Champion The death of Certissimus will be received bv every lover of a good racehorse with regret, and sympathy will go to the owner and trainer. Certissinnis had become an idol of the racing public, and his appearance at a meetiwas a certain draw card. Few ,-l”l!ions have shown the docility and ;hc racing temperament of this chestnut colt, and while he hud been sorely tried in several races his driver. D. Teahen, had never used the whip to punish him. Certissimus knew what was required of him, and he and his trainer-driver had a perfect undeistanding. U is a coincidence that Kawhaki. possibly the fastest thiee-vear-old trotter before the advent of Certissimus. also met an early dealn. He was trained by A. G. Wilson and, foaled in 1921, was by Nfl*™ from Runaway, by Rothschild—Vanc if'h. He only won one race—the New Zealand Trotting Stakes—but he had shown exceptional speed m his private trials. Transfer of Classic Race The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club has accepted the offer () r the Ashburton Club to lake over the New Zealand Futurity Stakes, and this will be decided at the club’s first autumn meeting to be held at Addington on April L FKANKI.IN HACKS DIVISIONS IN BOMBAY handicap (PA , AUCKLAND. Penalties were also imposed on several jockeys and other trainers. Corlett was charged with having committed a breach of Rule 328 IA, which slates that any person commits a corrupt practice who corruptly gives or offers any money, present, share in a bet or other benefit to any person having official duties in relation to a race or to any owner, trainer, rider, or any other person having charge of or access to any horse. Corlett was also alternatively charged under Rule 338 ID, which states that any person is guilty of corruption who tampers with any person employed in racing or a training stable. He was found guilty mi bolh charges. The committee also heard charges against G. A. Mac Donald and J. G. Bray, a horse trainer, of Gisborne, and J. toki and C. Tuppicieh, licensed jockeys, of having committed a breach of Rule 338 IH. which relates to the supplying of false information. The charges against Bray and MacDonald were held to bo proved. Bray was disqualified for two years and ordered to pay £lO costs, and MacDonald was disqualified for six months and ordered to pay £5 costs. Their names are not to go on the forfeit list if these sums arc paid before April 30. Toki and Tuppicieh wore found to have committed a breach and were each fined*£s.
