LITTLE ACTIVITY OVER BRITAIN

OFFENSIVE PATROL BY R.A.F. (8.0. W.) RUGBY. February 8. No enemy air activity over Britain was reported last night. An enemy bomber was shot down over the east coast of England yesterday afternoon. One enemy fighter was also destroyed during an offensive patrol over the French coast. This was one of Germany's latest long-range aircraft, a Dornier 217. The destiu'- - tion of this aeroplane involved a tUminutc chase, but in the end. the Cornier was seen falling towards the sea with one engine smoking. Enemy aircraft were reported on Sunday night over the north-east coast and the south-west of England. Another raider dropped bombs on th-; east coast of Scotland, and village street-, were machine-gunned. One woman was killed and seven persons injured. . . , A Royal Air Force pilot has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for the resource he showed m bringing home a damaged aircraft. An enemy cannon shell had blown a hole in the machine behind the pilot’s seat and the aeroplane was also sprayed with bullets.
