N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
♦ MOUNTED RIFLE REGIMENTS ABOLISHED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, January 22. The formation of the New Zealand Armoured Corps is announced in tonight’s Gazette. The existing designation of regiments of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles are abolished and the units redesignated as under:— Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry will be the Ist Light Armoured Fighting Vehicle Regiment, the Queen Alexandra’s (Wellington-West Coast) Mounted Rifles will be the 2nd, the Auckland 'East Coast) Mounted Rifles will be the 3rd; the Waikato Mounted Rifles the 4th, the Otago Mounted Rifles the sth, the Manawatu Mounted Rifles the 6th. the Wellington-East Coast Mounted Rifles (he 9th, the Nelson-Marl-borough Mounted Rifles the 10th. and the North Auckland Mounted Rifles the 11th respectively.
