CHARGES AGAINST MINERS
— « — CASES TO BE CALLED SOON ALLEGED STRIKE BY ABOUT 130 MEN (0.R.) GREYMOUTH. January 19. Asked when the informations laid against the employees for the alleged strike at the Dobson mine, contrary to the War Regulations, were likely to be heard, the Clerk of the Court at Greymoulh to-day told "The Press" that they would be brought on for hearing "at an early date." Cure an information was laid for an offence, ho said, such informations could only be withdrawn with the leave of the Court or be struck out for want of prosecution. The informations, which were prepared before Christmas for issuing to about 130 members of the Grey Valley Workers' Union, because of a stoppage at the Dobson mine on December 12. arc being laid under the Strikes and Lock-outs Emergency Regulations, 1939. and on summary conviction offenders are liable to imprisonment for 12 months, a fine of £IOO, or both. The informations were laid by the inspector for the Labour Department at Groymouth.' So that no time should be lost in the remaining three working days before Christmas, the inform.Pious were withheld from service, and were to bo brought on early in the New Year. It is now expected that the summonses will be issued for service within the next few days.
