EPIDEMIC PRECAUTIONS
Sir—ln “The Press" yesterday you published a telegram from Wellington to the effect that Health Department officials stated that it was very unlikely that typhus would reach New Zealand, etc.—and we are only eight hours by air from Australia. Although perhaps the department has a different personnel from the last epidemic, it appears to be the same old department. How well I can remember the advice given ab.'Ut that plague—onl> ordinary influenza. Stay in bed for three days. eUs. and yno will be all right. CdffstiH the records and see the result. I helped m pick up men who so acted and carried them to their graves. I suppose the British Medical Association members are fed up with Government methods or they would take a hand in preventing the spread of another pestilence—Yours, etc., DOS D ANES.
