NO SHOW TO BE HELD
[ METHVEN FIXTURE ‘ ABANDONED The committee of the Methven Agricultural and Pastoral Association met on Monday evening, when correspondence was received from the Temuka, Geraldine, and Mayfield Agricultural and Pastoral Associations advising that they had abandoned their shows. After considerable discussion, it was decided to abandon the annual show and to grant the date and the use of the showgrounds to the Mount Hutt Patriotic Committee to hold a patriotic carnival. It was also decided to reduce the 1 annual subscription to 10s 6d, and to ; hold meetings of the committee every I three months. The president, past-president, secre- ‘ tary and treasurer were appointed a sub-committee to attend to urgent , business. Cups and trophies won at the last . annual show will be left with the win- ; ners in the meantime. I ; MAYFIELD SHOW ALSO ' CANCELLED l > Because of the recent reductions in petrol allowances and the need for all manpower to be devoted to production, the Mayfield Agricultural and Pastoral Association has decided not to hold its show this year The fixture, which was an annual one, attracted wide interest throughout Canterbury among exhibitors and the general public.
