ATHLETICS

♦ JUNIOR AND WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS WELLINGTON, January 13. The managemcnl committee of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic AssociaUon yesterday decided to ask centres whether they would be in favour of the New Zealand junior and women’s championship meeting being held in Wellington this season. The Hawke's Bay-Pov-erty Bay Centre, which had agreed to hold these championships at Napier about the end of February, wrote stating that because of the war, and because the military authorities had taken over the exclusive use of a park, it was felt that it would be impossible to hold the championships at Napier.
