POTATO IMPORTS

1500 TONS EXPECTED SOON (P.A.) WELLINGTON, January 13. . Substantial importations of potatoes are expected to relieve the shortage in the Dominion soon. It was announced by the Minster for Agriculture (the Hon. J. G. Barclay) to-day that orders had been placed for 1500 tons of imported potatoes, which should arrive in the near future. There will be sufficient for Army supplies and a surplus which will be distributed throughout New Zealand.
