HELP FOR THE BLIND

CHRISTCHURCH COMMITTEE’S WORK Its policy of endeavouring to maintain personal contacts with all blind persons in its district was maintained fast year, states the annual report of the Canterbury Advisory Committee of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind. It endeavoured not merely to act as a body set up to dispense grants, but rather to take a real interest m the problems and pleasures of those who were its responsibility. The women visitors of the organisation gave unselfish service towards the achievement of that objective. With the assistance of the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund, the Lord Nuffield Fund, aid given through the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews), and the help of citizens, the committee gave assistance in various ways in response to applications, and in recognition of obvious need where no requests were made. No form of help had been more gratefully received than the distribution of coal and blankets.
