♦ FURTHER EXTENSION URGED BY RETAILERS • ___ 1 (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 12. A recommendation that as a wartime measure daylight saving be extended a further half hour was made by the New Plymoutl Retailers’ Association at a meeting this morning, and a telegram suggesting this is being sent to the Minister for National Service (the Hon. R, Semple. The meeting, which was called at the request of the Mayor (Mr E. R. C. Gilmour), decided to recommend that shopping hours remain the same during the week, except on Friday nights, When shops should close at 8 instead of 9, and on Saturdav morning, when hours should be from 8.30 to noon.
