Obstructed Police.—"! am satisfied that your object is to interfere with the war effort, and the pretence that you intended to quote Scripture was humbug.” said Mr J. Morling, S.M., in sentencing to three months’ imprisonment John Victor Riddell, aged 21, an engineer, for obstructing the police when he started to address a meeting in the Auckland Domain on Sunday afternoon. Riddell, who is a member of the Christian Pacifist Society, pleaded not guilty and conducted his own defence. —P.A.
