Yesterday the Minister for National Service (the Hon. R. Semple) officially opened the Information Bureau for men of the Armed Forces which is to be run by the Clerical Group of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary at the Wellington railway station. After 15 years in the service of the Auckland City Council as the Mayor’s orderly and messenger, Mr H. C. Hills is retiring shortly. Mr Hills was responsible in 1917 for the capture of Count Felix von Luckner and five companions, who had landed at Wakaya Island from a launch after the wreck of their vessel, the Seeadler, which had been wrecked at Mopiha Island, in the Society Group. For this Lloyd’s awarded him a silver medal and £ 100, Captain J. Forbes has been appointed manager. of the Devonport Steam Ferry Company, Ltd., Auckland, succeeding Mr A. E. Alison, who is retiring after being in the service of the company for 40 years.
