MINING DREDGING RETURNS (gahere.—The Ngahere return for the f-month ending December 15 was 284 ices from 116,758 yards, worked in 203 ted Jack’s.—Associated Gold Dredges rise that for the week ended December the Red Jack’s dredge recovered 78 ices from 23,000 yards in 123 hours, larrytown.—During the first half of Denber, the Barrytown dredge ran 73 rrs, treated 23,000 cubic yards, for a urn of 151 ounces. fanieri.—During the first half of Denber, the Kanieri dredge ran 233 hours, ated 98,000 cubic yards, for a return 827 ounces. ASHBURTON A treble market was entered at the Ashburton stock sale yesterday, when prices for ewes and wethers were down by about 2s 6d a head on recent rates, and values for lambs were on a par with those ruling at the Tinwald sale last week. In the fat wether section prices ranged from 18s to 24s lOd, while fat ewes brougnt from Bs, Id to 13s 7d. Fat lambs made from 18s 4d to 24s 6d. RANGIORA No cattle were forward at the Rangiora market yesterdav. Wether hoggets made 16s to 19s fid, and for pigs values were: Porkers 30s to 50s fid, stores 28s to 335, slips 18s to 21s fid, and weaners 8s to 14: LORNEVILLE (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, December 16. There was an extra large yarding of fat sheep, with a good proportion ol wethers, at the Lorneville sale to-day. Quality on the whole was quite fair. In spite of the large yarding, values for wethers were quite up to those of the previous week, while tire demand for ewes was sound, there being a reduction of about 5s a head on the previous good sale. Extra prime heavy shorn wethers brought up to 36s 9d, prime quality from 27s to 28s fid, light-weights from 24s fid to*26s. Prime young shorn ewes brought to 19s 9d, prime qualify 16s to 17s fid. medium 14s to 15s, aged and inferior 11s to 13s. There was a large yarding of fat cattle with a good percentage of good quality heifers and cows. Good quality bullocks were in rather short supply. In the early stages of the sale values were fully 3(is a head lower than at the last sale, but from then on there was a genera! firming tendency, with values showing an increase over the last stages of 15s. Prime quality medium-weight bullocks brought from £l4 15s to £l6, handy-weights £l3 15s to £l4 10s. light-weights £ll 10s to £l2 10s.
