TWO BROTHERS CHARGED

FIGHT IN AUCKLAND STREET (P.A.) AUCKLAND. Nov. 24. Two Maoris, Phillip Matthews, aged 23, and his brother, Henry Matthews, aged 35, were charged in the Magistrate’s Court with fighting with an unknown person in Nelson street, on Saturday evening. Phillip Matthews was further charged with assaulting, on the same date, Dave Repia, so, as to cause him actual bodily harm. In asking for a remand in both-cases, the police said that the men were mixed up in a fight, and shortly afterwards another man was found injured on the footpath and subsequently died. The Magistrate (Mr F. H. Levien, S.M.) remanded both men to December 1 and allowed bail. In the case of Phillip Matthews bail was allowed on his own recognisance of £250 and another of similar amount.
