VICTORY MEMORIAL SCHOOL
ANNUAL SPORTS HELD Rain threateried to spoil the first part of the programme at the annual sports of the Victory Memorial School held on Saturday in the school grounds. When the weather cleared, there was a fair attendance of parents and friends of the school. Prizes were presented after the sports by the Rev. E. C. Powell, vicar of St. Matthew’s parish, St. Albans. The boys’ senior championship was won by D. Fraser with 18 points. D. Hamilton being runner-up with six points. The boys’ junior* championship was won by D. Soanes with 12 points. The girls’ senior championship was won by A. Long, 18 points, V. Hamilton being runner-up with six points. The junior girls’ championship was won by A. Kofoed with 12 points. Wilson broke the record by six feet, and in the senior event for throwing the cricket ball, lan Wilson beat the record by 45 feet, throwing 328 feet 10 inches.
