OLD GIRLS’ REUNION In record numbers members of the St. Margaret’s College ’ Old Girls’ Association attended their annual reunion celebrations beginning with evensong at the schopl on Friday afternoon. On Saturday morning Holy Communion was celebrated in the school chapel and followed. by breakfast. In the afternoon the tennis match between old girls and present girls for the Betty Thomas Cup was held at St. Margaret’s Hostel, Papanui road, resulting in a win for the present girls. For the first time a swimming relay race was held in the baths at the hostel, and the present girls won. Members of the staff of St. Margaret’s College and senior pupils were the guests of the old girls for the- afternoon. ' A buffet dinner was held at the National Club rooms on Saturday night, when Mrs A. G. S. Gibbs, president, received the guests, wearing a black frock patterned in red and green leaf design, and a small black jacket. Miss Gwynneth Boulton, president of the Wellington branch of the associalion, was a guest of honour. Following the buffet dinner the annual meeting was held in the lounge, and a presentation was made to Miss Lila Gardner, who has resigned from the office of secretary after five years of service. A one-act play was presented by Miss Rose Reynolds. Those taking part were Mesdames C. W. Cochrane and E. Dalton, Misses Norah Stapp, Margaret Inwood, Doris Stephens, Dawn Kincaid, Edna Neville, Mavis Barter, Rose Reynolds, and Jocelyn Kersley. Officers were elected as follows: — President. Mrs C. L. Wilson: vice-pre-sidents, Mesdames G. Rich, J. Hawkins, and Miss Lila Gardner; secretary, Miss Natalie Vale; treasurer, Miss Myrle Corrick; committee, Mesdames J. Rov Smith, P. H. N. Freeth. P. B. Levy, H. W. Hunter, Misses T. Harris, Fay Purdie, and Kathleen Larcomb. SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS In the absence of the president, Mr J. Shankland. the Rev. A. Simmonds presided at the annual meeting of the' Christchurch branch of the Presbyterian Sunday School Teachers’ Union. Miss Taylor gave a report on the annual meeting of the Dominion council held in Timaru. The programme included items by the following: Miss Burnett and Miss M. M. Thomas (pianoforte solos), Mrs Crawford and Mr R. B. McConnel (vocal solos), Mr J. R. Walter (recitation). Miss Burnett was accompanist. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr J. Shankland; vice-oresi-dents, the Rev. A. Simmonds, Messrs T. W. R. Hitt, B. J. Palmer, and Bruning; secretary, Mr W. A. Moir; reporter, Miss M. M. Thomas; treasurer, Miss R. Brown; pianist, Miss D. Collins; assistant-pianist, Mrs J. Lindsay.
