Payments To Iceland.—The United States has agreed to underwrite Britain's financial obligations to Iceland, amounting to about 20,000,000 dollars a year. The agreement provides for the payment of dollars for Iceland's fish and fish oil, which are its chief export products. They will be shipped direct to England and charged to Britain under the Lend.-Lease ActWashington, November 22. The rose day appeal of the Timaru Plunket Society on Friday resulted in £176 being raised. Last year £206 was collected, and as there are several gifts still to come in, it is expected that this total might be exceeded. Collectors in the street took £lO6, and the stall in Stafford street took £4O.
