Messrs C. S. Hammond (president), G. H. Wood W S. Mac Gibbon, and J. R. Smith ’(secretary) will represent the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce at the annual meeting this week of Associated Chambers of Commerce at Invercargill. Mr G. H. Jacobson, son of Mr and Mrs W. E. M. Jacobson, Akaroa, and formerly of the staff of “The Press,” has completed his Air Force training in Canada and has been awarded a commission, with the rank of pilot officer. He is now in Britain. Mr W. R. Harris, of Invercargill, has resigned from the fields advisory staff of Fertilisers (South Island), Ltd., and has accepted an appointment as Invercargill manager of the Otago Farmers’ Union Mutual Fire Insurance Company, Ltd. Mr J. R. Menzies, Acting Australian Trade Commissioner, is a visitor to Invercargill for the conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce.
Mr W. N. Satlcrthwaite, mercantile manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd., will leave early this week for a business visit to India by air. He expects to return about the end of January.
