FISHING RIVERS AT WAIMATE
The rivers in the Waimate Acclimatisation Society’s district are in excellent condition for the opening of the fishing season, according to a report made by the ranger (Mr W. Cottee) at a meeting of the council. The rivers had been thoroughly cleaned out by floods, and the prospects for the season were the best for some years, he said. Fish in the Waihao river were plentiful, and the mouth had been open for some time. The season for the Waitaki river would not open until October 15, but for other streams it would commence to* .morrow. .. . 1
