INTERNAL MAIL CENSORSHIP.

“ SOME DEGREE NEEDED” MR NASH’S EXPLANATION (P.R.) WELLINGTON, August. 31. The statement that it was not desirable, necessary, or possible to censor all internal mails was 1 made by the Acting-Prime Minister (the Kon. W. Nash) in an interview to-night. He said, however, that the country needed some degree of censorship. “There are no instructions as to which letters should be subject to censorship and there are no rules,” said Mr .Nash, “but it might be necessary to open certain letters, as, for example, to or from aliens resident i.i the country, if such action is considered advisable or information reaching the authorities makes it expedient.”
