GUERRILLA WAR IN BALKANS

Struggle Against Axis Troops

LEADERS CLAIM 12.000 KILLED

LONDON, August 24. The “Soviet War News” states that guerrilla leaders from Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Jugoslavia held a conference in the Bosnian mountains to discuss the results of the strugg.e against the Italians and Germans.

They claim that in the last six week's | they have killed 12,000 German and! Italian troops, have blown up 200 bridges, set fire to 400 fuel, ammunition and food dumps, and wrecked 17 trains. German newspapers in occupied Poland publish many notices of “accidental” deaths of German soldiers, but the Poles know that the accidents are the work of guerrillas. Twenty Jewish and five non-Jewisb Communists will be shot fpr every act of sabotage attributed to Communists in Rumania. This has been ordered by General Antonescu, according to reports from the Balkans.

The guerrilla war sweeping Jugoslavia is forcing the Germans to use brutal methods. Five men accused of sabotage were hanged in a city and left on the gallows throughout the day. where they could be viewed by the public. ,
