WAR MATERIALS FOE RUSSIA • LONDON, August 22. The United Press of America says it is learned authoritatively that Russia has placed war orders worth 1,000,000,000 dollars in the United States. Of these orders 10 per cent, will have been delivered within a few weeks. The United States is able to meet,all Russian requests for aviation petrol with immediate deliveries. Some fighter aeroplanes have already been delivered, others are on their way. A warm tribute to Russian skill and morale has been received by the War Office from Lieutenant-General Mason Macfarlane, head of the British military mission in Russia. He recently visited the Smolensk area, where he was much impressed with the high morale of the troops and the excellent . cooperation with the air force. LAND FORCES TO AID RUSSIA NEW YORK, August 22. Anzacs are included in a big array being assembled in the Near East to help Russia, according to . the newspaper columnists.
