THE EMPRESS OF ETHIOPIA
Letter Of Thanks To Mr Jordan (F.0.0.C.) LONDON, June 11. The Empress Manen of Ethiopia has written to the High Commissioner, Mr W. J. Jordan, thanking him and the National Patriotic Fund Board for a donation of £IOO. The letter stated; “Peace be unto you!” “Lady Barton has informed me that the National Patriotic Fund Board of New Zealand has very generously given to the Ethiopian Women’s Work Association a donation of £IOO towards the upkeep of the ambulances presented to the association by our friends in the United States. “Please accept for yourself and convey to the board our sincere thanks for this generous gift. The Emperor and the people of Ethiopia remember with gratitude the sympathy that was shown to the Ethiopian cause by the Government and people of New Zealand and the active part your Excellency took in defence of international law and justice at the time of the Italian aggression. , . , “Done at Fairfield, Bath, the 7th of Gmbot, in the year of grace 1933 (May 15, 1941). — (Sgd.)
