Residents of Amberley and surrounding districts gathered in the Town Hall to attend a social and dance organised by the Amberley Farewell Committee to honour Telegraphist Sam Smith, formerly of the local post office staff. On benalf of the people. Mr F. Quigley. Returned Soldiers’ Associar Hon, made a presentation to the guest. Canon H O. Hanby also spoke. Music was supplied by Ashby’s orchestra and Mr H. Adlington was master of ceremonies.
