DRAINAGE BOARD AWARD

A special committee set up by the Christchurch Drainage Board to consider the claims of the board's labourers for a new award, reported last evening that it . could not accede to the demands of the union. - The committee had held three meetings and had discussed the proposals with the union’s assessors. The committee recommended that in the event of the claims being filed with the Clerk of AWards, the following be appointed .the board’s assessors:—Messrs J, W. Beanland, P. Harvey, ; F, Robson, and the secretary of the Canterbury ; Employers' , Association,; Mr H, F; Butjand. The recommendation was approved by theboard. {
