JOE LOUIS BEATS BILLY CONN NEW YORK, June 19. Joe Louis (199i1b) defeated Billy Conn (1741b) with a knock-out in the thirteenth round of a bout for the world’s heavy-weight boxing championship. Fifty thousand persons saw the bout. Conn was leading on points to the tenth round in an electrifying battle, and it seemed that the mighty negro was heading for defeat when the challenger stopped a smashing right hook to the chin early in the thirteenth round, which floored him.
