Riccarton Home Guard.—-The syllabus of training for the week-end and week-night parades of the Riccarton Home Guard covered many instructive and interesting subjects. The parades were well attended, but the week-end parades should meet with a better response. After the last night parade the members attended a social evening held in the St. James Sunday Schoolroom, when opportunity was taken to make presentations to the instructors responsible for the early training of the unit. Mr B. C. Penney, the commander, la making the presentations, expressed the thanks and appreciation of the officers and men for the services given. The result of their work was apparent in the standard of efficiency of the members. Songs and other musical and dance items were given by the Tram* way Patriotic Concert Party,.
