£250 RAISED

MISSIONARY MARKET The annual missionary market in aid of the Melanesian and North China Missions goes from success to success, This market, then a tiny affair, was at one lime neid at St. John’s Hall; it was a success; then as it grew in importgpce, it was held at Merivale, but soon outgrowing the hall there, its venue was changed to Jellicoe Hall, and after yesterday’s success, it is due for yet another move to a bigger build.ing. This increase in interest and practical support must be very encouraging to the missionaries overseas, to the Archbishop and to Miss L. Cameron, the secretary. The fair yesterday was presided over by Archbishop West-Watson, and formally opened by Miss T, West-Weston, who asked that the people of this privileged land should not be unmindful of the shortages and privations endured by the missionaries, to whom, she said, it must b e heart-breaking to see the work they had built up being restricted and curtailed, even temporarily. Thp Rev. C. W. I. Maclayerty thanked the Archbishop and Miss West-Watson for their practical interest, and the parishes for their splendid cq-pperafion.
