TRAMWAY PASSES
Sir,—As a regular patron of the trams, and also as a ratepayer, I am wondering if the manager of the Christchurch Tramways would give the following information: (i) The number of free passes in operation. (ii) How they are allotted. • . (iii) For tramway employees, do they operate only on working days? (iv) What Government employees are given free passes? (v) The increase in number of free passes during the term that Labour has had control of the board. If these points are answered, I think the public will be surprised at the numbers that are carried free on the trams—Yours, etc.. REGULAR PATRON. June 6, 1941. [This letter was referred to Mr H. E. Jarman, general manager to the Christchurch Tramway Board, who said: "There have been no increases in the issue of free passes in the last 20 years or more. The new board has not yet considered the matter, which is carefully reviewed by each successive board.”]
