FIRST “COMMUNITY SING” OF WINTER

The first midday community sing of the winter season will be held in the Civic Theatre to-day, beginning at noon and finishing at 1.30 p.m. Mr Jack Maybury has retired after serving three years as song leader, and Mr A. E. (“Son”) Gobbe has succeeded him. Mr Gobbe is a popular Christchurch entertainer and. has organised several of the Sunday night concerts in city theatres. Mr Norman Carson will be at the piano. In the past, the proceeds from the sing have gone to the Mayor’s Coal and Blanket Fund, but the committee has decided that this year the money shall be given to patriotic funds.
