Waitemata Seat.—Before returning to Wellington from Auckland, the Secretary of the Labour Party, Mr M. Moohan, said that some doubt existed as to the procedure to be followed to fill the vacancy in Waitemata caused by the death of Captain W. J. Lyon, as proof of death had to be furnished before any seat was declared vacant. he had not yet gone into the legal complications. No action by the Waitemata Labour Representation Committee was likely for a week or two. The Labour Party would, of course, contest the seat.
