PHYSICAL WELFARE OFFICERS

(P.S.S.) AUCKLAND, June 9. New appointments for Christchurch of physical welfare officers of the Internal Affairs Department, were announced by the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry). Mr K. A. Muff, of Christchurch, take? charge of the men’s side of the work. Miss N. M. Thomson is being transferred to Christchurch from Wellington, and will be responsible for the women’s side of the work there, and Miss M. W. Woods, of Ashburton, will assist Miss Thomson. It is intended that the officers should cover as much as possible of the Canterbury district. Mr K. R. Mitchell, physical welfare officer in Wellington, goes to Christchurch for some weeks, to help in replanning the work for Canterbury. Mr G. A. Webb, of the Education Department. Christchurch, who has been organising some of the work during the interregnum, will" continue in thii -capacity for a while longer.
