GUN DOG CLUB TRIALS

In the Canterbury Gun Dog Club's series of land and water trials on Mr L. Shipley’s property at Harewood, the chief event on the programme, the land trial for the Cocker Shield championship, was won. by Ashmore Pcggotty, owned by Mr C. J. Sowden. Land and water classes were also contested. Mr A. Dawson Judged the open, limit, and championship classes, and Mr A. Marker the novice and puppy classes. The results' were as follows; Cocker Spaniel Shield (land).—C. J. Sowden’s Ashmore Peggotty, 200 points. Sarkett's Bradford .Best, 166, 2; G. L. Harris’s Pattervale Chris, 158, 3. Open Class (land and water).—J. M. Mitchell’s. Labrador, Darkle of Hawea, 184 points, 1; M. P. Leathern’s springer spaniel, Patsy's Pride, 157, 2; M. J. Petersen’s Labrador, Caesar of Colenso, 152, 3. , Limit Class (land).—J. M. Mitchell’s Labrador, Madam Pompey, 97 points, 1; L. Gate’s Labrador, Prince, 85. 2: T. Sarkett s cocker ■ spaniel, ; Bradford Best, 69, 3. Novice Class . (land).—.W. P. Riches s springer spaniel, Blamsly Blackthorn. 94, 1; L. J. Mitchell’s Labrador, Lady Diana. 90, 2; S. M.
