Miss Noreen Hodson (Sydney), formerly of Christchurch, will be married this month to Flying Officer Kevin Grant, R.A.A.F. / During the year ended March 31, 1941. 5071 babies and 5098 adults visited the rooms of the Paoanui-Men-vale sub-branch of the Plunket Society and, in addition, the nurse visited 1194 homes. These facts are disclosed in the' annual report of' the subbranch. The report regrets the departure overseas of Nurse McMulan, whose place has been taken by Nurse Welsh and thanks Nurse Osbourn and Nurse Garland for doing relieving work. Regret is expressed at the resignation of Mrs R. B. Ward and it is announced that the honorary secretary. Mrs L. C. Sisson, has been granted 'leave of absence, Mr F. W. Dunnage (auditor). Messrs G, Holder. B. E, H. Whitcombe. and H. Wyatt are thanked for continued kindness and also the annual subscribers to the subbranch. The Kaikoura Basketball Club held a dance in the Drill Hall on Saturday night 1 and, in spite of unfavourable weather, there was a good attendance. The lucky spot dance was won by miss I Scott and Mr C. Scott. The Waiau basketball players, who were to have been the guests of the Kaikoura Club, were prevented from coming owing to the weather conditions. Music was played by the Royal Dance Band, and extras by Messrs E. and C, Scott. WU G. Galway was master of ceremonies. Referring to a letter In "The Press” yesterday giving instruction about the finishing off of heel-less socks, the secretary of the Comfort Committee of the Canterbury Provincial Patriotic Council gives the information that the work being undertaken at the present is the finishing off of footless stockings and not heel-less socks.
