R.; McKenzie Trust- Board has received from * Mr McKenzie a cheque for £SOOO, representing interest for the; year ended March 31, 1041, on the funds, amounting to £IOO.OOO. which last year Mr McKenzie set aside for charitable' and/or educational purposes - within- the Dominion. About £657 had previously been paid by Mr McKenzie oh 'account of accrued in-:, come’ from the date of inception of the trust to March 31, 1940. Certain specific objects were declared byMf McKenzie, and the board subsequently' laid down the principle that problems • arising out of the war would without doubt create a legitimate demand ,on the income of the trust. The board has taken these circumstances sinto account in determining the distribution of the income for the first period. The sum of £SIOO has been allocated to the objects of the trust for the period from February 12, 1940, to March 31,1941. The following are some of the individual allocations:— New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association (headquarters),. £1450; War Funds ; Council, £200; Pluhket Society (inclqding provision for training twi Maori girls as Karitane nurses), £I2OO Advisory Board, - Federation of Healt! - Camps, £1000; Cholmondeley Child ten’s Home, Christchurch, £100; Bn tish Sailors’ Lyttelton, £65; Toc H., Christchurch, £4O; Sunnyside Mental Hospital Patients’, Recreation Fund, £10; Salvation Army, £SO; Anglican Archbishop of New Zealand, £2O; Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, £2O; Baptist Union of New Zealand, £2o:’ Congregational Union of New Zealand, £2O.
